BACK PAGE: And This Is What I Do - Darren Hall, drugs regional adviser, Government Office Southwest

1 min read

What are your responsibilities? My role covers the whole of the Southwest, mainly Cornwall and Devon. My responsibilities are threefold: monitoring performance of local authority drug action teams; supporting partnerships to help agencies work with each other; and providing advice and information to agencies.

Who's in your meetings? I meet with chief executives of a range of services, including health, social services, education, police and probation services, practitioners, providers, charities and youth workers.

How do you meet with young people?

I don't work directly with young people but I do meet them through the agencies. Sometimes I provide leaflets on the Frank advertising campaign to them in the streets, which is a good opportunity to find out what their views are on drugs.
