As lead education officer at a local authority, I have been struggling to build a good relationship with all the schools in my area. While some are very keen to work with us on children’s services strategies to improve wellbeing and achievement, others can be lacking in communication and resistant to our programmes. How can I change this?

It is important to work with individual schools to see what their particular needs and priorities are. A good way to do this is to arrange a school visit and walk around with the head teacher, letting them tell you what they would like to do for their students and staff, and what issues they face with their communities.
