Reaching Out will begin at the Barbican on 5 October, when 350 young people will showcase their talents at a concert. The accredited scheme aims to highlight career opportunities in the arts for disadvantaged young people.
Partners in the programme include Connexions, local education authorities, youth services and the Department for Education and Skills.
Karen Jones, arts development project manager and artistic director for Reaching Out at The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, said: "The programme aims to give talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to get involved in the arts. They can then go on to further education in either the performing arts or related careers."
