Arts beat: Logo for Liverpool

A logo designed by young people to mark Liverpool's forthcoming Capital of Culture status in 2008 has been unveiled. The "Liverpool 08" logo aims to celebrate the city's new status and was created by young people from Holly Lodge Comprehensive School and the Greenhouse Project on behalf of the Liverpool Culture Company. The city will adopt a different theme each year until 2010 as part of its Capital of Culture celebrations. Last year, the theme was learning and this year the theme is faith. As part of this year's events, young people have been visiting a ship, called the Friend Ship, to learn about diversity. The theme for next year will be maritime. www.liverpool08.com.
