Armed Forces: Young recruits to help Prince's Trust

Under the memorandum of understanding, to be signed in the next few weeks, recruits aged 17 to 29 will help lead groups of young people on the trust's 12-week Team programme.

Robert Higgins, youth policy adviser at the ministry's youth policy unit, said: "The young people will benefit from manpower and role models, while the recruits will learn skills such as communication and personal development from working with disadvantaged young people."

The deal will not be legally binding on the organisations but will formalise a loose arrangement that dates back to 1994.
