1 min read Education Youth Work
The government has been forced to intervene in a row over two of its flagship programmes for children.

Lambeth Council is planning to build over - and thereby close - London'slongest-surviving adventure playground to expand the nearby ArchbishopTenison's School. The expansion is part of Building Schools for theFuture.

But the management committee of the 52-year-old Triangle AdventurePlayground has told ministers it was not consulted.

Jim Clancey, chair of the management committee, said: "We've asked(children's minister) Delyth Morgan to present us with someone from asenior level in the Building Schools for the Future programme to explainwhy we have to go."

London Play development manager Alan Sutton, a member of Triangle'scommittee, said the school could expand into a car park.

But a spokesman for Lambeth Council said the site is required toaccommodate space for construction work and will be used to provide playfacilities for the wider community when complete.
