4front Awards: Innovation into action

2 mins read
The Camelot Foundation's 4front Awards reward young people wanting to set up their own community projects. Jennifer Simms discovers which ones have made it on to this year's short list.

More than 50 young people aged 11 to 25 sent in their five-minute video applications to the 4front Awards in the hope that their project will be chosen to receive the funding necessary to get it up and running.

A judging panel comprising six young people spent a weekend in Bristol earlier this month to decide on the nine finalists. Each winning project will receive 3,000 to make their project a reality at an event to be held at Fabric nightclub in London on Tuesday (24 October). An overall winner will receive an additional cash reward on the night.

The young judges decided which projects should win based on a set of criteria they drew up themselves. This included the applicants clearly being able to show how they will run the project, and demonstrating that the project will make a difference to their community.
