The misuse of alcohol is responsible for a number of fatal illnesses including liver disease, heart problems and some cancers. Over-consumption of alcohol also costs the NHS millions of pounds every year and is linked to violence and crime.
Steps such as banning alcohol advertising in public places, increasing taxes on drinks with the highest alcohol concentration and ending promotional deals on drinks are needed to tackle this issue.
