Youth workers and those working in youth justice have been recognised in the Queens New Years Honours List.

Captain Kandiah Chandran, chief executive of The Preset Charitable Trust which provides education and employment opportunities, was appointed OBE for services to young people in London, while Frances Crook, director of the Howard League for Penal Reform, was appointed OBE for services to youth justice. Chandran said: "I do not consider this OBE an award for myself, but a recognition of the work of Preset and my colleagues who work together to assist young people around the capital."

Alexander Tait, former governing governor at HM YOI Castington, was also appointed OBE, as was Alan Beavis, from Reading, for services to the Scouts.
