Somerset County Council receives about £247,000 a year for its youth opportunity fund and £231,500 for its youth capital fund, which is distributed by the county's youth funding panel in four rounds a year. Projects must show they are led by young people, and a disability inclusion youth worker is available to advise young people with special needs who may require additional help with their application.
Who's on the panel? A total of 29 young people are currently involved with the panel. They come from across the county and from a variety of backgrounds. Partners in the panel include the local leaving care service, the Somerset Racial Inclusion Project, a Traveller education project, the Somerset youth offending team and the wider voluntary sector.
