
Organised by social enterprise Arrival Education, with support from Changemakers, London Youth, UK Youth and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), the Not in Our Name event was staged at Methodist Central Hall in Westminster with a number of media organisations present to listen to what young people had to say.
Shaun Bailey, Prime Minister David Cameron’s big society ambassador, was one of several people to address young people before handing them the platform to speak.
"We need to talk about what we are going to do and be realistic about it," Bailey said.
He added that any resentment in communities should be channelled for good. "If you think you are a leader in your community, even if you are full of anger, do something positive with that anger."
