Young people given a say on Islington cash

Youth Work
A London borough is asking young people how they would like to spend more than 1.5million pounds on youth services.

Islington council has decided to talk to young people, both over the phone and in person, and encourage them to carry out their own research, to decide how to spend the cash.

Young people will be asked what activities they would like to do, and whether they want more sports, art and music facilities or would prefer the money to be spent on something new and different.

Parents and carers are also being asked to fill in an online survey on services for young people.

Ursula Woolley, executive member for children and young people at the council, said: “We work very hard to provide good youth facilities across the borough, but we’re constantly aiming to improve them and it is important to us to hear what people actually feel they want and need.”
