YOTs yet to sign up for database

1 min read Youth Justice
Three youth offending teams (YOTs) are still yet to sign up for a new database just days before it is due to go live.

The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is introducing the Youth Justice Management Information System (YJMIS) to streamline the way YOTs and the secure estate provide data.

It replaces a system called Themis.

In May CYP Now revealed that a number of YOTs were stalling on using the new database amid fears it risks identifying children.

YJMIS will also allow YOTs and secure estate institutions to supply historical data on all children they have come into contact with since 2004.

Campaigners argue YJMIS will collect far more data than the old system, including postcode and date of birth details, leading to the possible identification of children.
