Managers argue that the new youth justice information system fails to protect young people's identities.

Several youth offending teams (YOTs) are stalling on using a newdatabase amid fears it risks identifying children, CYP Now canreveal.

The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is in the process of introducing the YouthJustice Management Information System (YJMIS) to streamline the way YOTsand the secure estate provide data and to allow better analysis. Itreplaces a system called Themis.

But campaigners argue YJMIS will collect far more data than the oldsystem, including postcode and date of birth details, leading to thepossible identification of children.

It will also allow YOTs and secure estate institutions to supplyhistorical data on all children they have come into contact with since2004.
