Woodcraft Folk gets lottery cash for training project

1 min read Youth Work
The youth organisation Woodcraft Folk has received more than a million pounds to allow more than 8,500 young people to make their voices heard.

The progressive educational movement will use the five-year grant of £1.26m from the Big Lottery Fund to finance its Training, Representation, Equality and Engagement (Tree) project.

Tree has been developed by young members of Woodcraft Folk in partnership with The National Youth Agency, The Co-operative College and the National Deaf Children's Society.

The project aims to provide disabled young people with more social opportunities, train more than 2,000 young people in management, mentoring and communication, and increase the number of Woodcraft Folk groups for teenagers.

The project will begin in April 2009, although preparation will be under way from November, with four youth consultation events to be held across the UK.
