Anti-knife crime campaigner Brooke Kinsella has agreed to take on an ambassadorial role in a new Conservative government for youth mentoring and engagement projects in the most deprived parts of England and Wales.

The ex-Eastenders actress would head up a small panel of young people who would work with the Conservatives to identify youth crime projects that could benefit from financial support, while also establishing a means of tracking their progress.

The appointment was announced this morning in south London as Tory leader David Cameron, joined by Kinsella, made a speech on how he plans to mend the country's "broken society".

"Government is a big part of the problem — its size has now reached a point where it is actually making our social problems worse," Cameron claimed.
