The cost of subsidised childcare during the school holidays varieswidely across Britain, according to a survey published last week. TheDaycare Trust poll shows parents in the East Midlands and South WestEngland are paying the most, averaging 97 and 93 per weekrespectively. Inner London, however, continues to have the lowest rates, with average full-time daily charges of 4 for working parents.Overall, the survey of children's information services found a 30 percent decrease in the number of full-time places for holiday childcare.Kate Goddard, policy research officer at the trust, said the disparitywas surprising. "It shows that in some areas holiday childcare is a realpriority, but in others councils are spending less," she said. The trustwants holiday childcare to be made a higher priority in childcarepolicy.
