Sir Peter Lampl, aged 61, had not been seen since Sunday morning when he went out without his long-term medication.
Lampl was spotted by a member of the public at Victoria station earlier today, who recognised him after reading about his disappearance in the paper.
The philanthropist immediately called his family and the Sutton Trust office to let them know he was safe.
Tim Devlan, a spokesman for the Sutton Trust, said that he was relieved that Lampl had been found safe and well.
He said: "I would like to thank the police for putting out a missing person statement and the media for their concern."
