Sex abuse prevention training for Welsh workforce

1 min read Social Care
Professionals who work with children and young people in Wales will get extra training under a new campaign to prevent child sexual abuse.

The Stop It Now! Wales campaign aims to raise awareness among adults and encourage them to report potential abuse.

It has launched a confidential helpline and a range of leaflets and resources to help the public spot signs of abuse in children and worrying behaviour in adults.

National manager Rebecca Wasinski told CYP Now that the campaign wanted to work closely with all professionals who work with children, young people and families.

She said the plan was to pilot one-day "Protect" courses for professionals such as social workers, teachers and parenting advisers to help refresh and update their knowledge.

"It will be an extension of existing child protection training," said Wasinski. "We want to work in partnership with them to get this information out to the people they work with so everyone feels confident about what to do and where to go."
