Secure training centres get thumbs-up from Ofsted

1 min read Youth Justice
Two secure training centres (STCs) that have previously faced difficulties have been given positive ratings following unannounced inspections.

Ofsted inspectors rated Oakhill STC in Milton Keynes as "good" and Rainsbook STC in Rugby as "outstanding".

The findings at Oakhill follow an inspection report in October 2008 that graded the quality of services as "inadequate".

The "outstanding" rating at Rainsbrook comes five years after 15-year-old Gareth Myatt died after being restrained at the centre in April 2004.

Inspectors found that Oakhill, which accommodates up to 80 young people, has a management team that "strives to provide the best possible care and service to the young people".
