The secure school, called Oasis Restore, will open on the site of the former Medway Secure Training Centre.

It was due to open in 2020 but has been blighted by delays, with opening pushed back to December this year.

Speaking to CYP Now, Steve Chalk, founder of Oasis Charitable Trust, said: “At the moment everything is on track and the idea is that we will open at the end of the year.”

The first children will join the school at the beginning of next year and it has the capacity to house 49 children aged 12 to 18.

It will offer a mix of core subjects like maths and English as well as elective vocational courses in areas including hospitality, construction and media, each lasting six weeks.
