The Scout Association has announced it is to create the post of UK commissioner for adult support to help volunteers get the most out of Scouting.
The new commissioner will be charged with providing effective line management for national volunteers, ensuring good communication between teams across the UK and working with the UK chief commissioner to ensure the association's objectives are being reached.
The move is part of efforts to both retain and recruit further adult volunteer leaders to support the growing numbers of children and young people interested in joining the Scouts.
Wayne Bulpitt, UK chief commissioner, said: "Our growth over the past few years means that we are well placed to capitalise on our high standing and to fulfil our vision of providing inspiration, personal development and exciting opportunities to increasing numbers of young people.
