Report states case for youth work

2 mins read Youth Work
Two leading youth work organisations are taking the fight to protect young people's services directly to local councillors and other key decision-makers.

The union Unite and sector skills council Lifelong Learning UK have joined forces to produce The Benefits of Youth Work document, which explains in simple terms the reasons why youth services are needed and the difference they make to young people's lives.

Up to 5,000 copies of the 40-page document are to be printed and distributed to local councillors, MPs, the voluntary sector and other key decision-makers from next week.

Its publication follows a number of local authorities — including Birmingham, Coventry and West Sussex - announcing plans to cut spending severely on young people's services, potentially leading to wide-ranging job losses and the closure of frontline services.
