Outcomes First Group says ‘recruitment challenges’ behind children’s home closures

The closure of a number of children’s homes by one of the largest residential childcare providers in England and Wales is linked to “sector-wide recruitment challenges”, the Outcomes First Group says.

CYP Now revealed that the Group, which was the fourth biggest provider of private children’s homes places in 2021/22, was in discussions with staff over the closure of some of its 60 homes.

Sources said staff had been “given 60 days’ notice” in March over the closure of 28 children’s homes as part of a move by the Outcomes First Group to focus on residential homes settings linked to schools run by the organisation.

A spokesman for the Group, which is owned by private equity firm Stirling Square, has confirmed “the difficult decision to close some homes in light of sector-wide recruitment challenges”.
