
During its previous inspection five years ago, the council’s children’s services were rated as “requires improvement to be good” amid concerns of a lack of consistency in support for young people and delays in assessments and plans.
But following its latest visit in February Ofsted found the council has “supported frontline staff to significantly improve practice since the last inspection” and uplifted it's rating to “good”.
They found that children at risk of harm from outside of their family “benefit from bespoke, timely and targeted support to protect them and to disrupt exploitation”.
A “wide range of training opportunities” for staff is also welcomed by Ofsted as are efforts to increase the number of frontline staff supporting children.
