The census is designed to give organisations, community groups, youth services and local authorities who deliver youth services or out of school activities in England the chance to have their say on the sector.

It comes as recent research shows the sector has faced more than £1bn of cuts over the last decade despite two thirds of services reporting an increase in demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data will help organisations and communities to better understand what is needed, to create more opportunities with young people. It will be used to inform policymakers, funders and commissioners for financial support, practical resources, training and safeguarding, the NYA has said.
