The National Youth Agency (NYA) is urging practitioners working with young people at risk of harmful behaviours to participate in its National Youth Sector Census to help shape future government intervention programmes.

The census, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, collates data regarding the state of youth work in England and offers providers the chance to share their views on key issues.

Completing the census will help inform policy and funding decisions and strengthen the case for more investment in the sector, says the NYA.

Data gathered through the census could help inform the National Youth Strategy and related programmes such as Young Future Hubs, which aim to support young people in areas of high violent crime.

The NYA is also working in partnership with the Home Office to support the scoping of youth provision as part of Young Futures Prevention Partnerships.
