London councils unite to support children and young people

Social Care
All 33 London councils have signed an agreement to provide consistent support for looked-after children and care leavers across the capital.

The London Pledge for Children and Young People in Care contains 47 promises under the five Every Child Matters outcomes.

James Kempton, London Councils' executive member for children and young people, said: "This innovative London-wide pledge means children in care can now expect the same support wherever in London they live, go to school, college or work. We will also be providing help and support to parents and carers so they too can play a full role in the process."

The pledge was developed by the Government Office for London, London Councils, the Association of London Directors of Children's Services, voluntary sector organisations and practitioners, with input from children in care and children's rights director Roger Morgan.
