Responding to a question by Play England chief executive Adrian Voce, at the Liberal Democrat party conference, Teather said: "Play has taken a big hit already and I am very conscious of that. Things are very difficult and I have no idea what the result of the spending review will be."
In a fringe meeting on tackling child poverty, two young panel members voiced concerns at the lack of accessible activities for deprived children in their communities in Bradford.
In response to their concerns Voce said: "I know the child poverty unit's building blocks for the development of the national child poverty strategy includes measures locally to ensure children can grow up in an environment in which they can thrive."
