Speaking at an Action for Children event at the Liberal Democrat’s annual party conference, Stunnell argued that devolving power to communities is key to engaging the most vulnerable young people in decision making, adding that cuts to public spending would need to happen regardless of the big society.
"The question is, how do we make our society much better than it was before?," he said. "It’s about transferring power and getting people to make decisions in their local communities. The big society is not some sort of magic cure for everything that has ever gone wrong in our country but we do need to have a situation where people have got the enthusiasm to take a bit of responsibility for their own lives."
