
Inspectors found that the service, which is shared between Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council, had worked hard to engage children and young people and their parents or carers as soon as they became involved with the service.
The service was praised for an apparent reduction in the frequency of offending, since the start of the sentence, in 59 per cent of cases - better than average results.
Overall the service was found to carry out safeguarding aspects of work well enough 77 per cent of the time compared to 67 per cent nationally.
Work to keep each young person’s risk of harm to others to a minimum was done well enough 63 per cent of the time, compared to 62 per cent nationally, and the work to make each individual less likely to re-offend was done well enough 76 per cent of the time, compared to 70 per cent nationally.
