Hampshire appoints charities to run children's centres

1 min read Early Years
4Children and Action for Children have been appointed to run children's centres across Hampshire.

Of the 15 clusters of children’s centres in the county, Action for Children has been appointed by Hampshire County Council to run 13, with 4Children involved in running those in Fareham and part of Eastleigh.

4Children will run four centres in Fareham in partnership with local schools and the Southern Health NHS Trust and three in Eastleigh Southern Parishes in partnership with Children's Links. All were previously run by the council in collaboration with local group, the Portchester Community Association.

4Children also looks after extended school services in the county and runs children’s centres nationwide.

Charles Ellis, deputy chief executive of 4Children, said: "We are delighted that 4Children has been successful in its bid to run these key children’s centres. Our growing presence in Hampshire will build upon our out-of-school provision in the county and is an example of how charities can join with local providers to create tailor-made services for the local community."
