Family and Childcare Trust to join Coram group in face of funding challenges

The Family and Childcare Trust is to become part of the Coram group to secure its long-term future in an "increasingly competitive and difficult environment".

The trust, which runs parent-led programmes, conducts research and campaigns on behalf of parents, will join the Coram group of charities on 1 August and be renamed Coram Family and Childcare.

The move will see Family and Childcare Trust chief executive Ellen Broome leave the organisation when she goes on maternity leave at the end of November. Head of finance and resources Julie Bentley will also depart.

Broome said the move will help make the organisation more sustainable by reducing its running costs, but stressed that no frontline staff will lose their jobs.

"It is really key for every charity to make sure they are sustainable and viable, and you want to be able to maximise how much help and impact and how many families you can reach - that's the most important bit," she said.
