Every child matters: Pupil development guidance released

Guidance has been published to help schools link children's personal development with the Every Child Matters outcomes.

In a major review of the curriculum for 11- to 14-year-olds publishedthis week, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority produced a table,based on the five Every Child Matters outcomes, to help schools planpersonal development as part of their curriculum. The table shows howwork in specific subjects could relate to the five areas.

The review also includes measures to tackle childhood obesity. Childrenwill be entitled to cooking classes and PE lessons will be revamped inorder to encourage more children to take part.
