Government proposals to change how pupils are tested could help reinforce the Every Child Matters agenda in schools, say children's professionals.
The Department for Education and Skills published Making Good Progresslast week.
John Chowcat, general secretary of the Association of Professionals inEducation and Children's Trusts, described the proposals as "veryexciting".
He said: "This is beginning to point towards forms of assessment, whichwill not just cover academic progress but the full range of Every ChildMatters."
