In a thinly-veiled attack on the departing Prime Minister, charitiesminister Ed Miliband said: "My hope for the new Government is that ithears the voice of young people better than it has done in the past 10years."
Brown takes over as Prime Minister today (27 June). Miliband is part ofhis inner circle of advisers. Signalling that Brown will distancehimself from Blair by injecting cash into eye-catching youthinitiatives, Miliband said: "Youth services have suffered fromunder-investment for 10 years. We need to do more to invest in thespaces and services available to young people."
Speaking at the National Children's Bureau's summer reception, Milibandalso attacked Blair's legacy on public services. "I hope the newGovernment makes more of a difference on the issues connected to youngpeople," he said.
