New education minister in Scotland

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond has appointed a new education minister for schools and skills in a ministerial reshuffle.

Kevin Brown, MSP for Ochil, will work in the Education and Lifelong Learning department, headed up by Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop. Adam Ingram remains in post as minister for children and early years.

Salmond said: "The purpose of this reshuffle is to give talented individuals such as Keith Brown the opportunity to make their contribution to government, and the delivery of vital public services for the Scottish people."

Maureen Watt, previous schools and skills minister, has left the government.
