Devon young people's services improve data security

1 min read Youth Work
Connexions and youth services in Devon are combining their databases of children's personal information to improve security.

Connexions Cornwall and Devon will share its database with Devon Youth Service in a bid to improve security and ensure both services have the most up-to-date information.

Authorised employees will access a single piece of software containing the names, ages and dates of birth of children and young people in Devon.

The same information is currently held on multiple databases across the county's youth services, which puts it at higher risk.

John Davey, director of service delivery for Connexions Cornwall and Devon, said: "We will not make any confidential details available, but we will share basic personal details supplied to us by the local authority."
