The Department for Education has announced a £4.4m investment into Covid-19 response programmes to reach the UK’s ‘hidden’ children. 

The funds will set up a National Centre for Family Hubs and extend the See, Hear, Respond programme that funds charities to support vulnerable children who are below the threshold for statutory support from local authorities. 

Children’s minister Vicky Ford will announce the investment at the Early Intervention Foundation’s national conference later today (8 December). 

Dame Louise Casey has launched a Covid Community Campaign to combat hunger as survey shows one million people are struggling to buy food in the UK.  

The survey, by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), shows rising food poverty and concern over job losses.
