The advertisements, which aim to help parents talk to their children about "safe and sensible relationships with alcohol", will be broadcast from 15 January until mid-March. They build on an online campaign, starring comedians such as Jo Brand and Bill Bailey, which launched at the end of last year.
Children's Secretary Ed Balls said: "This campaign is the start of offering clear and consistent advice for families, by building on the recent findings of the chief medical officer, which were widely supported by parents and young people."
Children's minister Dawn Primarolo said: "Ultimately we want young people to delay the age at which they start drinking and to ensure that if and when they do drink alcohol, they drink less."
