Children's services: Investigation clears Telford director for reinstatement

A leading children's services director has returned to her job following her shock suspension last October.

Christine Davies, director of children's services at Telford & WrekinCouncil, returned to work last week after she was cleared of wrong doingby an independent investigation.

She said: "I am looking forward to continuing my work for children andyoung people in the area. While the past few months have been adifficult time personally, I have never forgotten that they are thereason I do my job. I am keen to rejoin my team of dedicated people andintend to continue ensuring that young people and families in the areareceive the best possible services."

Davies, one of the most influential and respected figures in children'sservices, was said to be devastated after she was suspended in a moveshrouded in secrecy (Children Now, 4-11 October 2006).
