Children’s palliative care services are to receive a share of a £126 million funding boost announced by the Department of Health and Social Care today.

The funding, which includes £26mn ringfenced through the Children’s Hospices Grant in 2025/6 - is set to support thousands of seriously ill children to access appropriate end of life care.

Some £100m will be made available during the current and next financial year for capital spending across adult and children’s hospice settings.

Campaigners said the funding would help the sector “navigate a challenging funding environment and rising costs”.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting said: “Hospices provide the care and support for patients and families at the most difficult time so it is only right they are given the financial support to provide these services.

“This package will ensure they will be able to continue to deliver the compassionate care everyone deserves as they come to the end of their life in the best possible environment.”
