Teachers, community wardens, museums, libraries and leisure centres are all giving out specific stickers, which can be traded with friends and collected in a booklet. The stickers are part of Portsmouth's bid to become a host city as part of England's campaign to host the World Cup in 2018, and show images such as goalkeeper David James and the FA Cup parade bus.
Some stickers are given out by teachers for good attendance and good work, while others can be collected when a book is taken out of a library or a child goes swimming at the leisure centre.
John Ireland, cabinet member for education, children and young people, said: "The football stickers are a fun way for schools to get involved with Portsmouth's bid. It is also a way of getting families to visit many of the city's attractions such as museums and libraries and to interact with our community wardens."
