The group of 14 day nurseries says its livelihood is at risk because toomany new childcare places have been created. They are now seeking legaladvice on challenging Barnsley Council.
"We were told two years ago that private day care providers could beinvolved but we were never consulted," said group leader Linda Mills,manager of The Laurels Day Nursery. The group is now seeking legalrepresentation.
But in a statement Barnsley Council said: "We have engaged withcolleagues from the private, voluntary and community sector throughservice planning groups. These have focused on undertaking mappingexercises around each children's centre to gain a clear picture ofservices being delivered and planned in each locality."
