Council faces legal action over probe into 'wrongful removals' from foster care

Foster carers are threatening legal action against a council claiming they have been frozen out of a review into the wrongful removal of children in their care.

The move comes after Norfolk County Council dismissed social worker Peter Barron after he recommended a four-year-old boy, who was accidentally bruised while being put into a car seat, was removed from foster carers.

In March the council launched an independent review amid further claims of unfair treatment of foster carers.

But Norfolk Foster Care Association (NFCA), which first raised concerns about the council’s treatment of carers four years ago, says it has been excluded from taking part in the review.

NFCA chairman Ray Bewry said the organisation is prepared to go to the High Court to ensure it can take part.
