Charities call for ‘roadmap’ to reopening outdoor education

A coalition of charities providing residential and educational activities for children have released a “blueprint” for the continuation of outdoor learning during the pandemic.

A new report by Access Unlimited, a group of charities including YHA (England & Wales), The Outwood Bound Trust, Scouts, Girlguiding, Field Studies Council and National Parks aims to provide evidence to the government that outdoor activities can continue amid Covid-19 restrictions.

The group describes the report, Safe, fun and flexible approaches to educational activities outdoors, as “a Blueprint to re-opening the outdoor education sector and sooner rather than later".

“The inequalities of access to the outdoors and green spaces that existed pre-Covid have only been compounded by the pandemic.
