Australian firm ABC Learning acquired the Busy Bees Nurseries group in 2006, but is currently in receivership. Receivers have sold 65 of the 241 settings ABC owned in its homeland and will make a decision on what to do with the remaining settings today.
But a spokeswoman for Busy Bees has said it will be business as usual for the UK firm, which provides places for more than 11,000 children - almost double its nearest rival, Bright Horizons.
"The decision being made in Australia has no effect on Busy Bees in the UK," said the spokeswoman. "Busy Bees is a robust, stand-alone organisation and will be carrying on as normal," she added.
The Busy Bees nurseries group was described as "technically up for sale" last year by John Woodward, co-founder of the nursery group, when ABC sold the Busy Bees childcare voucher company to management service providers Computershare in September.
