Boost school support for forces children, charity says

2 mins read Education
Children of armed forces parents should get more support when transitioning between schools, with teachers better trained to recognise their needs, campaigners have said.

Charity Reading Force has partnered with Kingston University to host a seminar for teacher training students as well as professionals with an interest in the education of armed forces children to deliver its message.

The charity is calling for teacher training courses, which cover how to recognise at-risk children or to identify those pupils with learning difficulties, to include the same focus for armed forces children.

With an estimated 130,000 children from armed forces families in schools across the UK, the charity says pupils regularly have to change schools and experience a parent being away from home, often for long periods.
