Kent County Council is planning to close some youth centres and commission services from local groups instead in a bid to save nearly £1m.
Proposals would see a reduction in council-run youth services and increase the number that are commissioned out to community and private providers, changes that could result in up to 64 job losses.
A total of 24 youth clubs and street-based projects are at risk as a result.
Campaigners wrote to Dr Williams, asking him to sign a petition supporting Aylesham Youth Centre which, under the plans, would no longer be used by the youth service.
Dr Williams wrote back to campaigners explaining that while he does not sign petitions, he supported the campaign.
