More than 100 young people held a rally and march in Chesterfield over the future of youth services in Derbyshire, where the council wants to close 29 youth centres, with more than 150 youth workers at risk of losing their jobs.
The Conservative-run council is planning to offer grants to voluntary and community groups to provide youth activities instead of providing them itself.
But the local Labour group claims the council is just cutting costs at the expense of young people.
"Young people in and around Chesterfield were very concerned about what the cuts mean for them," Anne Western, leader of Derbyshire County Council’s Labour group, said. "We would hope that the council reconsiders given the strength of feeling."
